In February was held the annual Vienna Opera Ball, which is listed in the UNESCO Cultural Heritage List. The ball is truly the most unique and solemn event of the year. Accordingly, the jewels of the debutantes should be unique.
That is why the organizers of the event cooperate since the 50-ies of the last century with the Austrian company Swarovski, which masters, in their turn, join with famous designers for making original jewels for debutantes of the most luxurious ball in the world.
The honour to develop such decorations this year fell to the experts of the Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana. The result of their cooperation with Swarovski was elegant Tiara - worthy to decorate the hairstyle of the most fastidious modern queen. As reported in the announcement, Dolce & Gabbana drew inspiration for the tiara design in Mozart's opera “The Marriage of Figaro”. More precisely, in the eighth scene of the first act, where the chorus sounds in the performance of the choir: “Giovani lieti - fiori spargete!” (“Happy maids, scatter flowers!”). The result, in the opinion of connoisseurs, turned out to be terrific.
Tiara, where delicate blossoms meet organic curved leaves, was created using 702 Swarovski crystals and “Xirius Chatons” in Crystal and Golden Shadow shades as well as six rose-colored enamel flowers.
Later, a sketch of the legendary debutante’s crown of the Opera Ball was put up as special lot at the auction of "Dorotheum”. Almaz was lucky to become the owner of a rare lot.
